It is best to try and make your fence 6 foot. Any lower and it is not that great for privacy. But any higher and it can start to go against local regulations , so keep this in mind.

Most properties will have a chain link fence between them as a default. Because of this, you need to ensure you know which property owns this fence or if it you share it.

You want to go to the city and ensure that you have all the proper locations of the property line.

You will need to make sure that the property lines are completed well. Otherwise, your neighbor could complain about the fence going over to their side and needing to change it. This can be an expensive mistake to fix, so make sure to avoid this at all costs.

We recommend using something wooden or natural looking. These will age the best and mesh best with the biggest variety of gardens.

If you are using wood, you do want to make sure that you are using a good quality stain or finish. This ensures that the quality of the fence will not degrade or get ugly over time.

This will depend on the type of wood used.

If you have a good relationship with your neighbor, we recommend talking to them before you start work on the fence. If it is within your property, then you do not need to ask for permission.
